It’s been decided: the eActros 600 is this year’s best truck. The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 has been awarded the "International Truck of the Year 2025," a title voted by commercial vehicle experts from 24 European countries.
The award is one of the most respected in the trucking world, and the eActros 600 earned it due to its modern electric drive system, energy efficiency, and ability to travel up to 500 kilometers without needing a charge. The truck’s performance was proven during the "eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024," where the truck completed over 15,000 kilometers through 22 countries, using only public charging stations along the way.
Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, accepted the award from Gianenrico Griffini, the Chairman of the jury, at the IAA Transportation 2024 event in Hanover. Griffini explained that the eActros 600 was designed from the start as an electric truck, and its technology makes it a strong choice for long-distance use. Rådström thanked the jury and mentioned how the truck had already been tested by many journalists, who experienced its driving capabilities firsthand.
The eActros 600 was introduced at the end of 2023. It is powered by a battery with over 600 kWh capacity, giving it a range of 500 kilometers on a single charge. In some cases, the truck can travel even further depending on road conditions and driving style. The truck can cover more than 1,000 kilometers a day if charged during mandatory driver breaks, even without using megawatt charging, which will be available later. The truck can charge at up to 400 kW now and will support even faster megawatt charging in the future.
This is the tenth time Mercedes-Benz Trucks has won the award, but it's the first time the company has won with an all-electric truck. Many of the journalists who tested the truck praised its aerodynamics, smooth acceleration, and quiet operation. The eActros 600 is powered by two electric motors that produce a total of 400 kW of continuous power and 600 kW at peak output. It also features Predictive Powertrain Control, which adjusts the truck’s driving style to the road and traffic for better efficiency.
