Scania’s new bus and coach models are out, namely the Interlink line. Primarily used in urban environments and intercity excursions, these buses, and coaches feature a new chassis and body, plus additional fuel savings (up to 8 percent), and offer a wide range of configurations and options which include advanced safety features, uptime services, and a plethora of changes and additions for the driver.
The Interlink series of Scania is highly customizable and able to fit any passenger-hauling need. Scania offers varying lengths and interior layouts, luggage storage options, door configurations, powertrains, and a host of other options.
New for the lineup is an updated chassis that can accommodate a wider wheelbase, now with a longer two-axle bus added to the lineup, as well as shorter buses for other purposes.
Also new for 2022 is an updated driver area that improves upon the outgoing models’ ergonomics and reachability. Scania also updated the climate control system in the Interlink models. For safety, you can expect Scania’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to be included in the package. Improved handling is brought on by computer-controlled assists that have a hand in the Internlink’s steering, braking, and throttle, ensuring that you get to your destination safe and drama-free. Scania Zone is also another safety feature that actively checks your location to ensure driver compliance with the speed limit to minimize accidents.
As stated earlier, the new Interlinks will come with improved fuel economy by up to 8 percent over the previous iteration. This improvement can be attributed to the work that Scania put into refining the gearbox and the engine. Also, the brand put in a new stop/start function that allows the Interlink to save fuel while at a stop.
No news yet on the local availability of these new models, as they just launched overseas. It might be some time before Scania Philippines decides to bring the new Interlink series into the country, but that can happen sooner or later.
