2022 brought on a ton of surprises, here at TruckDeal.com.ph though, the biggest surprise of the year came from the smallest of the pack, the tiny Suzuki Carry.
The small Suzuki Carry is a great choice for the crowded and sometimes extremely tight roads here in the Philippines. For small businesses, start-ups, or logistics providers, the Carry is a commercial vehicle that is compact, cheap, and a great fit for our country’s tight urban roads. What is more surprising is that the Carry came out on top in the face of its main rivals the legendary Mitsubishi L300 and the up-and-coming Isuzu Traviz among other larger trucks.
The most inquired-for truck in 2022:
Suzuki’s small car of the people was launched here in the Philippines in 2019 as an update to the eleventh-generation Carry, sporting a new face, a slightly bigger body, and a modified version of the K15 engine for commercial use. You can get your own Suzuki Carry starting at P600,000 for the cab and chassis version, making it an inexpensive vehicle to start a business with.
The Carry is different from its main rivals because, unlike the L300 and Traviz which are powered by a diesel engine, the Carry is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine pushing 95 hp and 135 nm of torque.
At first glance, a gasoline-powered cargo truck seems like a bad idea, but, with diesel prices consistently being higher than gasoline, the Carry’s gasoline engine makes sense economically, which we worked out could be part of why it has earned its prominence among buyers.

Cargo models from Isuzu, Hino, and Fuso occupy a majority of the list, with our top ten list capped off by the Hino XZU342LC Cargo. With Isuzu taking four out of the ten spots, it is safe to say that the Japanese nameplate is still a favored brand here in the Philippines.
