The brand has been able to develop a hydrogen fuel cell system that works in its buses, which achieve zero carbon emissions. As such, Foton is able to provide these green and sustainable transport solutions, with Foton Australia as an example. The country received its first batch of hydrogen fuel cell buses from Foton to the Transit Group in Australia, marking the first two units in the company’s lineup.
On August 18, 2022, two hydrogen Foton buses were handed over to the Kelsian Group, whose sustainable transport solutions now include 60 electric buses and two of the aforementioned Foton hydrogen buses. Transit Systems is a company under the Kelsian Group, and it is Australia’s most experienced sustainable public transport operator.
"FOTON is definitely making history in building green public transport in Australia",
Foton has been in the business of hydrogen power for quite some time now, with one of its notable outings being in the Beijing Olympic games back in 2008. The buses made another appearance in the Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022 but in its fifth-generation iteration and have since become the largest hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet that ever served the high-profile event.
