The road to cleaner trucking starts here—Daimler Truck’s eActros 600 is all charged up and ready for its grand unveiling at IAA Transportation 2024. Daimler Truck is preparing for a presentation at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, concentrating on sustainable transport solutions. The company is ready to begin production of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, its first all-electric truck designed for long-haul routes, starting in November. The production is part of Daimler Truck’s plan to reduce CO2 emissions in truck traffic, which is predominantly generated by long-distance haulage.

The eActros 600, which will be featured at Daimler Truck’s booth at the trade show, is equipped with a large-capacity battery of over 600 kilowatt-hours, which allows it to travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge under typical operating conditions. The truck’s range can be extended greatly through intermediate charging during regular breaks, facilitating distances greater than 1,000 kilometers per day without needing the fastest charging solutions.

The model was tested over the summer in a European tour that covered more than 15,000 kilometers across 22 countries. These tests served to show the truck's operational capacity, efficiency, and the potential for energy savings compared to diesel trucks. The eActros 600 showed an average energy consumption quite lower than traditional trucks, showing its potential cost-effectiveness and environmental benefits.

“Our eActros 600 is a strong alternative to a diesel truck, thanks to its range of 500 kilometers on one battery charge. With its high energy efficiency, it will be profitable for fleet operators. Now it is imperative for governments, the energy sector and industry to act together to drive forward the expansion of public charging infrastructure.”

The production of the eActros 600 is scheduled to start at the end of November at the Mercedes-Benz Wörth plant, with the first customer deliveries expected before the end of the year. Components for the truck’s electric drive system are supplied by Daimler Truck’s facilities in Mannheim, Kassel, and Gaggenau.
