FUSO introduces the Next Generation eCanter electric truck in the Philippines.

FUSO Philippines, through Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation (SFP), recently organized an exclusive event for dealers, partners, and media to experience the Next Generation FUSO eCanter firsthand. Held on October 18, 2024, the event allowed attendees to drive and learn more about this fully electric truck, which was brought in for demonstration purposes only.

This was the first time the Next Generation eCanter was presented in the Philippines. While it’s not yet available for sale, the event offered a look at the truck’s electric technology and how it might benefit businesses, especially those in logistics and urban deliveries.During the event, SFP President & CEO Yosuke Nishi talked about the growing interest in electric vehicles in the Philippines and how FUSO is keeping up with that demand. Although there’s no set date for the truck’s commercial release, Nishi encouraged attendees to spread the word about its potential and how FUSO is committed to bringing electric vehicles into the market.

The eCanter is equipped with an eAxle, which uses a motor and axle in one unit, helps reduce energy loss, and makes the truck more efficient. The truck's electric powertrain is seen as a good option for businesses looking for eco-friendly solutions. On the outside, the eCanter features FUSO’s black belt setup at the front, giving it a clean, modern look. It’s also equipped with durable LED headlights that provide better visibility and improve safety on the road.

Inside, the eCanter has a digital instrument panel that gives drivers easy access to vehicle information. The truck also has a shift-by-wire gear system, and the seats have adjustable settings for different drivers. Additionally, the cabin offers more space and better visibility, thanks to its lower dashboard. The eCanter supports AC and DC charging with its Combined Charging System (CCS) Type 2 inlet. Depending on the battery, the truck can travel up to 200 kilometers on a full charge. The truck has an 8.55-ton weight capacity, which adds to its usefulness for businesses needing to cut emissions.

The Next Generation eCanter isn’t available for sale in the Philippines yet, but FUSO gave a preview of what this truck can offer to businesses. Customers who attended the event got to experience the electric truck in action. For now, FUSO is gathering feedback and watching the market closely as they plan their next steps in electric mobility. Do you think we’ll see these trucks soon?
