Fuso unveiled its new body application for the eCanter in Munich, Germany. For the first time, the eCanter is being offered with a roll-off tipper function from UNSINN as well as a mechanical power take-off (PTO) function.

In the Philippines, it remains to be seen if a local manufacturer will be able to fit a tipper function to the eCanter should it ever find its way here, but other markets are proving it to be a possible endeavor.

As for its specifications, the eCanter is an 8.55-ton truck with a max load capacity of 5,135 kg, and a payload capacity of 3,635 kg. The vehicle comes with a total wheelbase of 3,400 mm and it can seat up to three individuals in its cabin. With Fuso’s M battery package, the eCanter can get a range of up to 140 kilometers on a single charge. Payload capacity and driving conditions, however, will make the total range vary.

“With our Next Generation eCanter, shown for the first time with a roll-off tipper, we are underlining that the advantages of the FUSO Canter for the construction industry are also fully reflected in the electrified variant. Thanks to their robustness and variability, the Next Generation eCanter and the new FUSO Canter are ideally suited for the construction industry. Together with our body partners, we can realize a wide variety of applications in both vehicles.”

Multiple wheelbase options are available for the eCanter, with small, medium, and large options comprising the lineup. Battery sizes can depend on the wheelbase options as well, and the small variant packs a 41 kWh pack which can net up to 70 kilometers of range. The M variant has 83 kWh at its disposal and its range can go up to 140 kilometers. The L variant, meanwhile, gets up to 200 kilometers out of its 124 kWh battery pack.

For now, UNSIN is the only one that provides the tipper functionality for the eCanter, but as the model rolls out in more markets we might see more eCanter tippers in the construction industry. No word yet on the model’s debut here in the Philippines, however.
