In order to keep pace with the country’s powerful e-commerce market as well as the increasing demand for last-mile delivery services, local logistics company, J&T Express teamed up with Hino Motors Philippines (HMP). The two companies formally inked a strategic partnership deal, covering more than a hundred Hino trucks.
The new trucks J&T will be welcoming to its fleet comprise of the Hino 300 series 916 (XZU730L) and 616 (XZU710L) models as well as the Hino 500 series 1625 Long (FG8JP7A) and 2629 (FL8J) 6x2 wheeler. The addition of these new trucks increases J&T’s fleet size to almost 500 Hino trucks since the start of their partnership in 2020.
The two companies made the deal official on February 16, 2023, at the Hino headquarters in Calamba, Laguna. The event was attended by J&T Express Chief Executive Officer Dean Ding, HMP Chairman Vicente T. Mills, Jr., HMP President Shingo Sakai, J&T Express Director of Procurement Arron Wang, Director of Operations John Yi, and Hino Paranaque President Edward Tan.
“We have been a witness to J&T Express’ growth from being a new player in the logistics arena and now a giant in the industry. Truly, J&T Express has become a part of the Hino family, and we look forward to continuing this relationship with them. We understand the demands for such a big company, and that’s why we are willing to offer customizable plans for their maintenance and repair needs to sustain [the] everyday use of the trucks.”
Aside from the contract signing between the two companies, the event also served to highlight Hino’s latest offering for the market, the Hino 200 series, the lightest commercial vehicle in the Japanese brand’s lineup. According to Hino, the lightweight 200 series is poised to be the perfect partner for logistics companies for their last-mile deliveries.
The 200 series includes the 315 and 415 light-duty trucks, which have a gross vehicle weight of 3,490 kg and 3,800 kg respectively. Both trucks are equipped with the Toyota 1GD-FTV engine which gives them 142 hp and 300 Nm of torque, a capable motor suited for the rigors of delivering goods in the metro.
