During Hino Motors Philippines’ (HMP) 8th annual dealer conference held on January 27, 2023, Shingo Sakai, a veteran at Hino who worked with the brand for 15 years was officially welcomed as the president of Hino Motors Philippines succeeding Mitsuharu Tabata who served for four years.
In the ceremony, Sakai gave thanks to his predecessor Tabata for maintaining Hino Philippines' stability and resilience during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a remarkably difficult time for car manufacturers, especially for producers of trucks like Hino. Sakai also emphasized the need to capitalize on Tabata’s accomplishments at Hino, which include a strong push for the brand's Total Support credo as well as the digitalization of both internal and dealer procedures.
In Sakai’s opening remarks, he underscored the leadership approach he coined H.O.P.E. which stands for Honest, Open, Perseverant, and Earnest. Sakai also stressed the importance of the Total Support credo and how customer retention is a key factor to long-term business success.
Total Support is the cornerstone of Hino’s brand philosophy which promotes a comprehensive approach to customer service. In keeping with the Total Support philosophy, Hino supports its customers with high-quality, reliable, and durable vehicles and dependable aftersales service, an indication that Hino recognizes the need of achieving maximum, uninterrupted uptime while minimizing overhead costs.
Shingo Sakai is a veteran at Hino, working with them for 15 years. Sakai joined the Hino brand back in 2007 and has accumulated an extensive skillset and experience in marketing, sales, planning, and research. Sakai was also greatly involved in business planning, aftersales, and production for the ASEAN and Australian markets.
Before joining HMP, he was General Manager for Total Support at Hino Motors, Ltd. Sakai’s goal as president is to make Hino the Filipino’s top choice when it comes to commercial vehicles for business owners and drivers. He also aims to maintain Hino Motors Philippines' strong dealership network and ensure a solid organization at HMP.
