Owning a business is always challenging, which is why business owners need machines that can keep up with the rigors of day-to-day operations. Luckily, Hyundai’s latest addition to their lineup, the HD78 GT is here and it is ready for whatever is thrown at it.
The HD78 GT weighs in at 7,800 kg with a volume capacity of up to seven cubic meters, allowing it to accommodate an array of heavy-haul equipment and industrial material. Depending on the variant, the HD78 GT has a load space of up to 15 ft for the medium wheelbase (MWB) variant, 18 ft for the long-wheelbase variant (LWB), and 19.5 ft for the extra-long wheelbase (EWB) variant. Hyundai prepared the HD78 GT to take absolute punishment by engineering a rigid, high-strength frame that can withstand heavy loads and varying degrees of terrible road conditions.
Another neat feature of the HD78 GT is the power-takeoff device, a function available on all HD78 GTs that allows users to use the truck to power up auxiliary equipment, like hydraulic pumps, generators, air compressors, pneumatic blowers, or vacuum pumps when needed.
Powering the HD78 GT is a 2.9-liter turbocharged common-rail direct-injection (CRDI) diesel engine, a lightweight unit that is capable of delivering the exact power and torque needed for hauling, long-distance journeys, or uphill driving with cargo in tow. Despite its relatively small size, the engine puts out 158 hp and 392 Nm of torque, while cutting down on carbon emissions and fuel consumption.
Aside from the mechanical features, Hyundai has been hard at work in making journeys safer with the HD78 GT. The HD78 GT has a high-strength steel cab and frame that is rust-proof and is designed to protect the driver and passenger by dissipating impact forces and managing the distribution of energy in the event of a crash. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with anti-collision door beams which keep precious cargo protected while on the move. The good news doesn’t end there, Anti-lock brakes (ABS) are now standard across Hyundai’s HD series. ABS helps the driver maintain directional control in hard-braking situations by applying ample braking force without locking up the wheels which causes any steering input to become useless.
Inside the truck, the HD78 GT features comfortable and ergonomic adjustable seats, combined with a spacious cab and the truck promises to make long journeys easier. Air-conditioning comes standard which saves owners the added expense of installing aftermarket options. The cab also has numerous, easy-to-reach cubby holes and storage spaces for travel essentials like maps, water bottles, and documents.
Hyundai says that as long as owners remain diligent to the recommended PMS intervals and practice safe-driving habits, the HD78 GT promises to be a lifetime partner for their business. The HD78 GT comes with Hyundai’s 3-Year or 200,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) and offers flexible coverage that in the long run helps reduce ownership costs (maintenance, repair, and parts replacement).
