Filipino-owned logistics company Mober is fully dedicated to reducing its carbon emissions through a partnership with Swedish home furnishing retailer IKEA for its last-mile electric vehicle delivery.
First opening its doors to the Filipino market in 2021, IKEA is a global name in affordable, DIY, furniture. With online orders now accounting for a large portion of the brand’s sales, IKEA set its sights on achieving 100 percent electric vehicle delivery by the year 2030.
This partnership came shortly after Mober’s recent launch of the Philippines’ electric delivery van. Mober’s electric delivery fleet has a service coverage of 250 kilometers and operates within Metro Manila. Among Mober’s fleet is the EM26, an electric logistics panel van built by Dongfeng.
“We are working with our transport partners to support this goal. With the first electric vehicle from Mober for instance, we lower harmful emissions as we deliver home furnishing solutions from our store to the customers’ homes. This is our small collaborative start to tackle climate change and clean transport.”
IKEA Philippines says that its mission is to make all home deliveries done through electric vehicles as soon as possible with a deadline set for 2030. IKEA expressed its delight at the prospect of working with a logistics partner with the same goal of reducing carbon emissions.
Through this partnership, IKEA hopes to effectively deliver its products to customers while mitigating the impact delivery services done with internal combustion engines have on the environment. IKEA is also working towards alternatives to bigger trucks that are needed to deliver larger-scale furniture in the future.
Like IKEA, Mober is also making moves in reducing its carbon footprint. The company has plans in place to secure a fleet consisting of 100 electric vans and trucks by 2030. Mober Philippines founder and chief executive Dennis Ng says that the company is thrilled to be working with retail giants like IKEA that share their commitment to the environment in lowering carbon emissions.
