Isuzu's plan for a greener future takes another step forward as the NRR-EV model gains zero-emission status in the U.S. Isuzu Commercial Truck of America has recently received zero-emission certifications for its innovative electric truck, the NRR-EV, from both CARB and EPA, which is a win in the company's plans to add to environmental sustainability and comply with strict emissions regulations nationwide.
The NRR-EV is developed to house up to 20 ft. bodies and handle payloads ranging from 9,882 to 12,951 lbs. The truck is equipped with a 150 kW electric motor that delivers 380 Nm of torque and offers different battery configurations from 60 to 180 kWh.
Starting in August 2024, this medium-duty truck will be assembled in Charlotte, Michigan, and will be available in all 50 states, building on Isuzu's presence in the American market with strong, eco-friendly transportation.
Shaun Skinner, President of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, expressed pride in this accomplishment, where he mentions that the certifications are a good step toward providing their customers with a medium-duty truck that reduces environmental impact.
“For us at Isuzu, this truck showcases our commitment to innovation in delivering sustainable transportation solutions for the future. The certifications for our NRR-EV are a major step in providing customers with a medium-duty vehicle that lessens their carbon footprint and meets new fleet regulations “
Building on their environmental initiatives, Isuzu announced last May the development of an all-new, zero-emission Class 6 & 7 truck. This upcoming model stems from the Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership and will feature a powertrain from Accelera™ by Cummins, using cutting-edge lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology.
