Isuzu has been the Australian truck market leader for a generation—33 years to be exact, and that has afforded them an elevated status in the country. Now the Japanese automotive brand has unveiled another model designed for waste management at the recently held Australasian Waste and Recycling Expo.
Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) showed off the FVY Dual Control model, a curbside waste management truck designed specifically for the Australian market. We imagine it can just as easily make for an international model if the demand is there, however. What the new truck brings to the table includes a Power Take Off (PTO) system that allows for precise truck and waste body connection, as well as an OEM-developed engine and body control module.
On display at the event was an Isuzu FVY 240-300 model belonging to the 16,500 kg to 24,000 kg GVW dual-control lineup. It’s set to be released in the Australian market soon, featuring advancements such as electronic stability control (ESC) and a market-first electronic braking system (EBS). These refinements should make for superior driveability and added safety for drivers and fleet operators alike.
The FVY Dual Control model also comes equipped with Meritor componentry, including a MT44-144 rear axle tandem set with driver-controlled inter-axle lock and cross-locks on each axle. The brakes are also courtesy of Meritor, with dual circuit full air S-cam brakes for the front and rear with auto slack adjusters and ABS coming in as standard.
According to Isuzu, all FVY models come with bumper-to-bumper three-year, 300,000-km warranty with three-year roadside assistance. The Isuzu FVY Dual Control range will be available soon in Australia. Could this model make its way to the Philippines? It depends on cost and the needs of our market. Isuzu Philippines already offers waste management trucking solutions such as the C-Series CYH52 S dump truck.
