Mitsubishi Fuso introduces its electric light-duty truck, the eCanter, in Singapore.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has officially launched its all-electric eCanter light-duty truck in Singapore, and the first unit has already been handed over to a local customer. As Singapore aims to switch all vehicles to cleaner energy by 2040, the introduction of the eCanter happened just in time along with the country’s goal of becoming a global leader in logistics while reducing emissions.

The eCanter is developed for deliveries, offering benefits like zero local emissions, quiet operation, and reduced vibrations. In Singapore, the truck is available in four different variants, with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranging from 5 to 8.55 tons. It offers a choice of battery sizes—S, M, or L—with a maximum capacity of up to 124kWh. Charging options include overnight charging using a standard outlet or fast charging in under two hours at customer depots, depending on the charger output.

MFTBC’s President and CEO, Karl Deppen, mentioned that the eCanter has successfully served 38 markets worldwide and is ready to meet the needs of Singapore’s logistics industry. The truck’s easy maneuvering and practicality for work deliveries make it a good choice for businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

In Singapore, FUSO trucks already have a good reputation, with models like the light-duty Canter, medium-duty Fighter, and heavy-duty Super Great available for customers. The eCanter will be distributed by Goldbell Engineering Pte. Ltd, which has been working with FUSO for over 40 years. FUSO vehicles are built in MFTBC’s Kawasaki plant in Japan and imported fully assembled into Singapore.

The eCanter also comes with safety features like Active Attention Assist, Active Sideguard Assist 1.0, and Active Brake Assist (ABA®5), which can detect vehicles and pedestrians and automatically initiate emergency braking under optimal conditions.

With this launch, Mitsubishi Fuso is helping Singapore reach its target of 60,000 electric vehicle charging points by 2030 and supporting the country’s advocacy toward cleaner transportation.
