Sinotruk made an appearance at the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung Transportation Show in Hannover, Germany, which kicked off on September 17, 2024. With a “Zero to Hero” theme, Sinotruk introduced seven new trucks that promote green energy and smarter driving. Leading the lineup was the Yellow River hydrogen truck, which recently broke records by driving 4,871 kilometers on one tank of hydrogen fuel. The truck's low drag design, with a drag coefficient of 0.286 was mostly the reason behind its impressive fuel-saving ability.
Inspired by water drops, the Yellow River truck has a cab with a narrow front (2150 mm) that widens at the back (2500 mm) to help with airflow. The trailer’s “fish back” layout further reduces air drag. With over 20 features like an active air intake and hidden handles, this model saves up to 15% on energy use compared to similar trucks.
Sinotruk also introduced six other green trucks, including the SITRAK hydrogen fuel cell tractor. Made for long-distance routes, it has a range of up to 450 kilometers per charge and uses three motors for a combined power of 825 kW and 75,000 Nm torque. Another model on display was the Commander Pro, a new electric light truck. It features a 100 kWh battery that can charge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes, making it ideal for city deliveries. The truck’s two-speed axle boosts torque by 50% and helps reduce energy use by 10%.
Sinotruk’s Bolden pickup truck, also displayed, is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine with a peak power of 140 kW and a torque of 420 Nm. Built to handle tough environments, it can start up even at -40°C. Its AdBlue dual injection system reduces emissions and helps the engine run efficiently.
With more than 20 years in the business, Sinotruk is a well-known name in global trucking. Their latest models at IAA Transportation 2024 show a plan for a cleaner future, using hydrogen and electric trucks for greener roads.
