Toyota Philippines is carrying some momentum into 2022 as it wants to reinvigorate its commercial vehicle lineup by bringing in an old nameplate from the 90s. The Japanese automaker seeks to bring in the Toyota LiteAce once again but in its commercial vehicle form. While Toyota has said anything official just yet, reports have stated that the Japanese automaker is already conducting a study within its dealership network to determine if bringing in the vehicle will be a viable option.
According to reports, internally Toyota hasn’t referred to the LiteAce officially just yet but instead is calling it an A-CV. This could refer to the vehicle in question being posited as an A-segment Commercial Vehicle. This means that they are looking for a small truck or vehicle that has a cab-over design, meaning that the driver sits on top of the engine, to fight against the likes of the Suzuki Carry, Foton Gratour, Hyundai H100, Kia K2500, and the venerable Mitsubishi L300.
While the actual details of the upcoming model have not yet been revealed, we suspect that it will come in multiple variants. We expect the A-CV to be available as a dropside pick-up, panel van, cab, and chassis, as well as a utility van type body, and as an aluminum van variant. We expect these to be the five initially available models to be tied to the possible arrival of the Toyota LiteAce.
As for some general specifications for the LiteAce, we expect it to measure about 4,190 mm long, 1,670 mm wide, and 1,890 mm tall. It will reportedly have a turning radius of 4.9 m and have a payload of between 1,050 to 1,075 kilograms.
With that said, it is now a waiting game to see if Toyota Philippines will bring in the LiteAce as its new commercial vehicle.
