In 2018, Hino Motors Philippines (HMP) launched its Euro IV-powered product lineup which includes the Japanese brand's 500 Truck Series. The Hino 500 Series are medium-duty trucks that are developed to provide a more powerful driving experience, along with advanced technologies. With these 6-wheeler and 10-wheeler trucks, HMP intends to provide quality transport and flexible body application capability.
The Hino 500 Series FL8JW7A Cargo is available in a 10-wheeler, 6x2 configuration. It is run by a 7.684-liter diesel engine that churns out a healthy 276 hp and 824 Nm of torque. The said mill is shifted via a 6-speed manual transmission while stopping power is provided by front and rear air brakes. It also has a gross vehicle weight of 26,000 kgs and a wheelbase of 6,130 mm.
As for ride and comfort, this medium-duty truck has semi-elliptic leaf springs with shock absorbers for the front and semi-elliptic main and auxiliary leaf springs for the rear. All variants come standard with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an air conditioning system.
This medium-duty truck can be customized with a variety of body configurations including dropside, dropside with crane, a flatbed, a palletized truck, stake truck, tanker truck, and winged van.
