Coming from the PRT lineup of trucks from the Scania brand, the S-Series is a long-distance hauler that is designed to give the driver and his crew a comfortable trucking experience. Good enough for the longest of jobs and built with luxurious features and amenities, the S-Series is the truck for the most taxing journeys on the road.
Two body types comprise the lineup, with the S-Sleeper Cab Normal being the standard offering, and the S-Sleeper Cab Highline being the more accommodating of the two. More bed space is allotted for the Highline, and up to two occupants can be housed.
Being the entry-level S-Series in the range, the 380 comes with a 13-liter turbo-diesel motor that produces 380 hp and 1,975 Nm of torque. Its power courses through either an 8 or 8+1-speed Range-Change Gearbox, or a 12 or 12+1 Range-Splitter Gearbox. Scania’s Rear Axle gears are also configurable. Single-driven gearsets hold up to 80 tons, while the tandem-driven gearsets can go all the way up to 210 tons.
As for axle configurations, the S-Series is offered in 4x2, 4x4, 6x2, 6x2/2, 6x2/4, 6x4, and 6x6 for the tractor bodies. Rigid S-Series bodies expand on that range by with 4x2, 4x4, 6x2, 6x2/2, 6x2/4, 6x4, 6x6, 8x2, 8x2*6, 8x2/4, 8x4, 8x4*4, and 10x4*6 axle configurations.
